Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is an iconic project for connecting every habitation of up to 250 persons in the country with a motorable road network and designed to improve the mobility and connectivity of the vast rural population.
One of the challenges was achieving proper road geometry in rolling terrain with steep gradients. Other challenges were land acquisition, heavy rainfall, weak soil strata, and scarcity of construction materials. Innovative solutions to overcome the challenges were provided during the implementation.

Assystem Stup was entrusted with the preparation of detailed project report along with drawings covering alignment plan, pavement design, cross drainage structures, and cost estimates for 1300 km roads, for 220 links, through hilly terrains of Tripura. More than 350 km of road were upgraded apart from new construction for 950 km.
