Design of the Golden Jubilee Palace - Seat of Ghana Government & Presidency
Accra, Ghana
Cities & Territorial Development
Project Description
The goal of the project was to create a seat of government of 16,750 sqm that would communicate power, stability, democracy and freedom. The design created by Assystem Stup, attempts to create a monumental form that depicts African culture in a progressive and contemporary manner and to incorporate symbols of the aspirations of the people of Ghana.
The 16,750 sqm complex includes the presidential and vice presidential offices, the president’s palace, ceremonial public spaces and various allied service buildings. The flowing shape and the subtly curved frame of the roof is a symbolic gesture to the Royal Stool of the Tribal King, and the louvered veil of the facade, with its Adinkara Symbols, represents a traditional home.
