Project Description

The Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR) is the leading French producer of 100% renewable electricity. It is committed to the energy transition and supports the deployment of the renewable hydrogen sector with various projects along the Rhône Valley. The “ÔH2 Port of Lyon” project includes a hydrogen production facility using water electrolysis, designed to offer an alternative energy source for river transport and other mobility uses in connection with port activities.

CNR plans to launch a turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the design, supply, and commissioning of a water electrolysis plant for the production of hydrogen. This project presents the following challenges:

  • To develop CNR’s hydrogen activity in the service of the development of new renewable energies, storage solutions and support for territories in the energy transition
  • Obtaining dimensional information for the administrative documents (building permits, ICPE) in parallel with the EPC contract procedure in order to optimise the project schedule
  • Controlling industrial risks while anticipating the evolution of the project (distribution station option, reflection on future uses).

The CNR has mandated Assystem to take care of the competitive dialogue process in order to select the consortium that will carry out the ÔH2 Port of Lyon project as an EPC.
