Assystem Stup is working on AMRUT 2.0, the urban development initiative by the Government of India. The program, which was originally launched in 2015, is poised to bring about a significant transformation in 11 districts of Madhya Pradesh and enhance the quality of life for residents in urban areas across the country. Assystem STUP, in partnership with M/s Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd., has been entrusted with the role of “Project Management & Development Consultant (PDMC)” for the Southern Division of Madhya Pradesh, covering 11 districts.
The key focus areas of AMRUT 2.0 include:
- providing piped water supply with household tap connections
- sewerage and seepage management
- rejuvenation of water bodies to augment water resources
- developing green spaces within these urban areas
The project officially commenced in April 2023 with an agreement signing date of April 17, 2023. As of now, the project is scheduled to run for 60 months, and Assystem STUP has already established site offices in four locations, including Shahdol, Katni, Seoni, and Anuppur. These offices will oversee six districts and play a crucial role in the program’s implementation.
The scope of the PDMC’s responsibilities is extensive and includes project management, detailed design review, bidding process and contract management, construction supervision, and reforms. In addition, the PDMC will actively support cost control, scheduling, risk management, and ensure compliance and due diligence for the project. One notable aspect of this project is the direct assistance provided to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and support in capacity-building activities. This includes training and skill development programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of municipal bodies. This, in turn, will lead to more effective planning, monitoring, and implementation of urban development projects, ultimately improving the quality of life for urban residents in these districts.
Rahul Gupta, General Manager for Water Works at Assystem Stup said, “AMRUT 2.0 is not just a development program but a holistic effort to bring about lasting positive changes in these urban areas. This initiative will about a revolution in the urbanization of areas across the country transforming the quality of life overall.”
