Context and challenges
Play a role in the green H2 revolution, at every step of the value chain
The world hydrogen market is rapidly expanding. Valued at $130 billion for now, it could reach $2,500 billion by 2050 (Hydrogen Council estimations). Therefore, we need to build ecosystems that include decarbonised energy producers, hydrogen equipment suppliers, producers and consumers. The H2 revolution will be enabled by the decrease of its future costs and by the mobilisation of governments to promote green and low-carbon energy.
Integrate and anticipate clean hydrogen usages (green, pink and yellow H2)
The use of clean hydrogen is an opportunity for many markets: mass-transportation and industries (chemical, cements…) in particular could significantly reduce their CO2 emissions. In the long term, it could also be a partial answer to the variability of renewable energies production.
Considering hydrogen safety and security issues
For hydrogen engineering projects, it is essential for safety to be at the very core. Whilst the issues of H2 safety are not fundamentally new, the high growth of this energy carrier will involve new requirements for industries that are already highly regulated, particularly in terms of process safety. The challenge of hydrogen safety is central to ensure the hydrogen revolution for the benefit and protection of our planet.
Develop storage and distribution infrastructures for hydrogen
For the H2 revolution to succeed, this energy carrier will need specific infrastructure to allow its transport and storage. These two conditions are central to make all the uses of hydrogen possible in the years to come.

Our expertise in Hydrogen
Acting as architect engineer and one-stop shop, Assystem Stup combines multiple disciplines and expertise: decarbonised energy, infrastructures, complex environments, regulations, transportation… Those multiple capabilities allow Assystem Stup to support private and public actors on pilot projects or industrial applications in H2 production, H2 storage and H2 distribution.
The major development of clean hydrogen is synonymous with a parallel growing of the decarbonised electricity sources needed to produce it. Our expertise in successfully delivering complex projects for more than 50 years makes us an ideal partner to support development of low-carbon energy sources:
• Assystem Stup is committed to the rise of renewable energies
• Assystem Group is the second largest nuclear engineering company in the world
• Assystem Stup builds and modernises the architecture of countries electricity networks (like india)
Assystem Stup proposes an integrated cross-sector approach: we are thus able to support the delivery of complex projects, effectively integrating energy conversion equipment and infrastructure. Our engineering service for hydrogen projects provides a methodology to assist stakeholders who want to get involved in the design, construction and commissioning of H2-based systems, and the safe operation of those installations. True Owner Engineer, Assystem Stup offers end-to-end support for hydrogen projects.
We also disposes of strong knowledge of H2 applications’ sectors (transportation, gas or chemical industry). We also provides solutions to support all kinds of industrial and process industry actors for construction programs, maintenance and operations, engineering design and systems integration.
