Assystem is proud to announce the successful completion of our Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) services for the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. Commissioned by Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad (MEGA), our work encompassed the design of the North-South Corridor viaduct, spanning from the Gyaspur Depot to Motera Stadium, including 10 elevated stations.
Ahmedabad, with its rapidly growing population of over 6 million, faces increasing traffic congestion that can no longer be managed by road-based systems alone. The introduction of a robust rail-based metro system has become a crucial infrastructure development to enhance mobility and reduce traffic challenges in this dynamic city.
The project scope included:
- Detailed design of the viaduct for the North-South Corridor (APMC to Motera), covering Chainage-450.000 to 15154.326.
- Comprehensive design services for 10 elevated stations, including key interchanges like Old High Court, which connects the North-South and East-West corridors.
With 2 corridors and 32 stations, the Ahmedabad Metro Phase II has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability. With rooftop solar panels installed on 15 stations, the metro will reduce CO2 emissions by 8,856 tons annually.
Additional eco-friendly features include energy-efficient lighting, the use of translucent sheets, solar blinkers, and energy-efficient equipment throughout the project site.
Assystem in India’s COO, Vikas Chopra said, “The Ahmedabad Metro is set to revolutionize public transportation in the city, providing a greener, more efficient alternative to road transport while enhancing connectivity across the city.”
